my thoughts: I've been really enjoying nblaque-impala's fics. The author's also on AO3 as NixBlaque but the awesome fics I rec below haven't been posted there. For this fic in particular Sam gets a dog after cage trauma and it's so insanely SWEET omg y'all

Rattling Your Locks by cherie_morte (LJ). Rated NC-17, Jensen/Jared. 50k. Summary: AU: Born into slavery, Jared has been trained and used as a pleasure slave ever since he was a teenager. Rare and coveted because of his Alpha status, Jared has always sold to the richest and often cruelest of masters.
His new master, the young but ruthless CEO of TradeMark Entertainment, Jensen Ackles, seems no different. At least, not until Jared stops to wonder what a consummate Alpha male like Ackles would want with another Alpha as his pleasure slave. Things only get more confusing when Jared arrives at his new master's home and finds that there are no other slaves. He soon learns that Ackles freed all of his father's slaves when he inherited them and has been a vocal supporter and patron of anti-slavery groups since. Jared doesn't know how to reconcile this knowledge with his master's outward coldness, but the more he learns about Ackles, the less he seems to fit into the assumptions that Jared has made about him.

my thoughts: Normally I don't go for alpha!Jared but this was an amaaaazing story. The development Jensen and Jared's characters, the progress they made with each other, was terrific. A few times the events in the story had me take pause but at the end of the day I really liked how sketchy and gray and conflicted everybody was when it came to that reconciliation aspect mentioned in her summary. Just a really fantastic and wonderfully long read!

Sammyverse: 8 Nights of Jessakkuh by shangrilada (LJ). Rated PG-13, Sam/Jessica as well as gencest Sam & Dean, 15k. Summary: Jessakkuh (it's a pun!) is an 8-part fic posted over Hanukkah 2011. It's a Sammyverse story in which Jess is Jewish and Dean comes to Stanford to spend Hanukkah with her and Sam. They get snowed in. Sam has a cold and Jess has a secret.

I can't tell you how much I love this author's friggin epic series of cuddly asthmatic!Sam and Dean. The cuddles are equally adorable with Jess in the mix, and the three of them being all loving and supportive. Awww. Warning tho: perhaps to overcompensate for what a softie he is especially when it comes to Sammy, Dean says ‘fuck' every other word and it's hilarious.

my thoughts: I loved how cuddly J2 were in this, especially how clingy Jared is because idk, I love scenes where Sam/Jared reaches for affection and actually gets it (preferably from Jensen/Dean for me haha). Also some very exciting zombie close calls. Just overall a very solid story for the zombies and the cuddles

Summary: Six years ago, a viral outbreak spread across the United States, turning people into zombie-like Ghouls–violent creatures that spread across the country, killing and eating their victims. Many of the unfortunate survivors were turned themselves. Now, with real safety only found inside the Walled cities, those on the outside are left to fend for themselves. When an infected Jared turns up on the doorstep of the Temple refuge, Jensen doesn't know what to think. The existence of Jared–a Ghoul that has somehow retained his humanity–is impossible, but it's only the first and least of the questions that he brings with him. Now Jensen has the government breaking down the door, and he must quickly find a balance between what he wants and what he'll allow himself to have.

my thoughts: I love anything that depicts Jared as both a sweetheart and a vicious monster and this story 100% had that. Add in some great world- and monster-building and a nicely paced romance? Oh yeah, babe.

Dragon Spell by virtualpersonal and brimstonegold (LJ). Rated NC-17, Sam/Dean, 112k. Summary: Crossover with Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern. Snooping around in his father's storage locker, Sam touches something he shouldn't and gets sucked into a world where dragonriders must protect their world from a continuous threat of threadfall. Dean follows and finds Sam has lost his memories. Until they get out of this mess, they have to ‘make like the natives.'

my thoughts: This story was my gateway fic to dragon AUs and it's been ah👏ma👏zing👏 reading and exploring this one and all the others! While it's a crossover with Anne McCaffrey's Pern universe, I had no idea and rolled with it anyway, so you definitely don't need to have read the McCaffrey's series to understand this story (but it's a great in that it gives you the gist of what other Pern x SPN fics incorporate in their crossovers as well). Love the amnesia trope deftly used here to kinda excuse/explain how the wincest unfolds

my thoughts: This fic in particular was my ‘gateway' fic into android AUs and I was completely inspired/fascinated. Dean is a Big Brother android model and it is super compelling, heartwrenching, and brolovingly sweet to boot.

my thoughts: I loved how the author wrote Sam & Dean's progress into what they become, and I just kinda love what they become gods of in general. So legendary and atmospheric, this small fic is impressively expansive!
