my thoughts: This fic kinda gutted me over the inner ‘fight ' between Sam 's adult and child consciousnesses and how both Dean and Bobby (and me, and generally this fic 's entire readership) love both. High caliber fluff and angst here!

If I Have Freedom by Jedi Sapphire (FFnet). Rated PG-13, Gen, 38k words. Summary: Sam's not been scratching the wall. Dean's been the Awesome Big Brother. my thoughts: Cage trauma Sam whump! Honestly there 's just something exquisite in this premise that processing cage trauma would be best done at the size and age of a child, if for no other reason than to be more easily comforted by others than adults typically allow (read: some of the best most satisfying gentle + comforting + protective Dean ever!)

my thoughts: This story is perfect for those of us who just hurt during season 4′s heartbreaking development (or estrangement? growing contempt?) that built up between the brothers. It 's so satisfying for Cas to be the one to mend them and I love this premise of a reservoir of love Dean has for his little brother that causes him (and Sam) to make up, versus anything like canon 's Bobby being like "hey, family 's always supposed to make you feel like shit," hahah. This is definitely way more wholesome and sweet. Head 's up, this story has a sequel, Let Them Be Little (fanfiction.net/s/5602340)!

my thoughts: Some incredibly sweet, soft moments between Dean and de-aged Sam. My favorite was when Sam replied "yes sir" to him and Dean hugged him and told him not to call him that. How much Dean loves Sam really comes through in this story.
